C'è una storia bellissima della Regina Vittoria a Windsor, - raccontò una volta il Principe Michele del Kent al Sunday Telegraph, - quando era seduta vicino a un vecchio ammiraglio sordo, che le stava raccontando la storia infinita di una nave da battaglia che era affondata e poi era stata rimorchiata a Portsmouth. La Regina, ansiosa di cambiare argomento, gli chiese come stava sua sorella. Fraintendendo la domanda, egli risposte: "Sto per farla girare sottosopra, le darò una bella guardata al posteriore e poi la farò grattare". La regina mise giù coltello e forchetta, nascose la sua faccia nel fazzoletto e fu scossa dalle risate fino a quando le lacrime le rigarono le guance.
